More Than 200 Rally in Los Angeles to Resist Trump at Earth2Trump Roadshow

16-city Tour Opposing Trump Attacks on Environment, Civil Rights Stops Friday in Reno, Saturday in Tucson

LOS ANGELES— More than 200 people in Los Angeles on Wednesday rallied against Donald Trump's attacks on the environment and civil rights during the latest stop of the cross-country Earth2Trump roadshow of resistance. The event followed equally packed launch events in Seattle, Portland and Oakland earlier in the week.

The two-route,16-stop national tour features free shows with live music, national and local speakers and a chance for participants to write personalized Earth2Trump messages that will be delivered to Washington, D.C., on inauguration day Jan. 20. The Center for Biological Diversity is organizing the shows in coordination with allied groups around the country.

“When we all speak together with a single voice of resistance, our power grows – and so do our chances of defeating the Trump administration,” said Blake Kopcho, an organizer with the Center. “People in Los Angeles will have a crucial role to play in building this movement and we're excited to get there.”

The show in Los Angeles featured singer/songwriters Aliyah and Casey Neill, Najee Ali with Project Islamic Hope, and Los Angeles Poet Laureate Luis R. Rodriguez. Attendees also signed a pledge of resistance and added their personal pledges and pleas into large hand-painted globes bound for D.C.

“Stand up and be loud,” said Ella Tabasky, one of participants at the rally. “Fight for what is right with an open heart and open mind.”
