RANGE: Arkansas, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas

THREATS: Habitat loss and fragmentation, energy development, disease, pesticides

POPULATION TREND: There are perhaps fewer than 1,000 of these beetles in the only remaining population east of the Mississippi River; the sizes of populations in Oklahoma, Arkansas and South Dakota are unknown, though it's estimated that South Dakota contains more than 500 square miles of occupied habitat. The Nebraska population occupies a large geographic area of the Sand Hills.
