Action timeline

April 10, 2006 – The Center filed a petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the Amargosa River population of Mojave fringe-toed lizards under the Endangered Species Act and to designate critical habitat.

January 10, 2008 – In belated response to the Center's petition, the Service announced that the Mojave fringe-toed lizard warranted consideration for protection as an endangered species. The agency began a one-year status review in January.

July 12, 2011 – The Center reached a landmark agreement with the Fish and Wildlife Service compelling the agency to move forward in the protection process for 757 species, including the Mojave fringe-toed lizard.

November 1, 2012 – Conservation groups filed a second lawsuit today challenging San Bernardino County for failing to provide environmental review and violating its own groundwater ordinance on the Cadiz water project.
